One of the easiest ways to increase your points score for the GSM (General Skilled Migration) SkillSelect Visas is to achieve a Proficient or Superior English score on the IELTS Test (International English Language Test).
To be eligible to apply for for GSM Visas, you must demonstrate Competent English. This means you would need to score at least 6 in each band of the IELTS or hold a passport from Canada, Ireland, New Zealand, The United Kingdom or The United States of America. However, Competent English does NOT contribute any points to your SkillSelect expression of interest.
If you are able to demonstrate Proficient English (7 in each band) you will score 10 points. If you can demonstrate Superior English (8 in each band) you will score the maximum number of points for english ability towards your 60 point minimum total!
Preparing for the IELTS test is not difficult or expensive. There are many free YouTube tuition videos, online courses and private tutors available.
