The 143 visa allows parents of an Australian citizen, permanent resident or eligible New Zealand citizen to live in Australia permanently
At least half of the applicant’s children must live in Australia or the applicant must have more children living in Australia than in any other country.

You must be sponsored. Usually, this will be your child who must be:
• 18 years old or older
• A settled Australian citizen, permanent resident or eligible New Zealand citizen
BALANCE OF FAMILY TEST
• At least half of your children live permanently in Australia, or
• More of your children live permanently in Australia than in any other country
You do not have to meet the BoFT If;
• you hold a Subclass 173 Temporary Contributory Parent Visa or, your subclass 173 ended in the 28 days immediately before you apply for this is or,
• your subclass 884 visa ended more than 28 days before you apply for this visa, but you can show compassionate and compelling reasons to be considered to still hold the visa.
